The Beetroot Pattie

The what you might be saying, that's right I present to you the beatroot pattie!

A trip last weekend to the Melbourne Show Grounds first (weekly) Farmers Market saw us pickup a few fresh veggies including the Beetroot!
Surfing the net for some different beetroot recipes we came across the Beetroot Pattie!

Intrigued we decided to give it a crack and paint the kitchen purple in the process, ok it wasn't that bad but could quite easily have been a disastorous mess.

A quick boil of the beetroots by Deb and we were ready to slice and dice and let the mixing begin. In with the mince, leek, eggs, basil and the key ingredient the beetroot.

The cooking was interesting rather than the red juices coming out turning clear we had a dark juice come out that than was purple when the cooking was complete.

The result a delicious beetroot pattie thrown in between a couple of slices of bread, some lettuce and a slice of cheese. Definetly will be cooking these up again and well worth anyone trying for something different.

Earth Hour & More of Seb

So last weekend was Earth Hour ("Earth Hour is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community. On March 27 2010, people all over the world stood up and showed leadership. Together we are more than "just one person" when it comes to acting on climate change").
Our third year participating saw us head out to Ann & Rob's for a lovely candlelit dinner.
Here's a quick video of Sebastian enjoying a little snuggle with Grandad by candlelight.

And a few photos of Sebastian showing his sitting skills to the world, of course he thought this whole sitting concept was extremely funny and got the giggles.

Of course this weekend is Easter and a four day break so very much looking forward to spending some more time with Seb and him enjoying his first Easter, perhaps I will have to eat his chocolate for him :)
